Concert Program 1 – Enchanted Worlds
Saturday 29 March, 4:00 pm–6:00 pm
Join the Inner West Community Band for our first concert program of 2025 – immerse yourself in music inspired by the enchanted worlds of fantasy literature!
This program features a full performance of Johan De Meij’s Symphony No. 1: The Lord of the Rings. Experience this masterful symphony for wind orchestra, inspired by J. R. R. Tolkien’s epic fantasy novel.
The program also includes a selection of music from Tim Burton’s 2010 film Alice in Wonderland; John Mackey’s cross-cultural Strange Humors featuring solo djembe drum; Eric Whitacre’s The Seal Lullaby, inspired by a Rudyard Kipling poem; and songs from the beloved musical Wicked, set in Frank Baum’s Wizard of Oz universe.
