Songs of Sea and Sky

Join the Inner West Community Band for an afternoon of music inspired by the ferocity of the high seas and vastness of the open sky.

The folk tunes of Vaughan Williams’ “Sea Songs”, the beautiful cascading phrases of John Mackey’s “Sheltering Sky” and popular favourites “Skyfall”, and “Under the Sea” are just some of the program’s highlights.

The concert will also feature the premiere of Simon Parker’s work “Scuffy the Tugboat”, composed especially for this event.

Songs of Sea and Sky marks 5 years since the IWCB’s first ever concert performance in 2010. To recognise this occasion the band will be performing the first piece we ever played, “Beyond the Horizon”.
