IWCB At the Movies

Saturday 29 November 2014, 4:00 pm6:00 pm

Join us for an afternoon of evocative music from the silver screen.

We will travel through space and time and encounter witches, dinosaurs, bandits, jedi, pirates and more with a collection of some of the most loved film music of all time.

Kicking off with a medley of major themes from sci-fi films (including Star Trek and Star Wars!) we’ll soon be hitting the high seas with excerpts from ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl’ and hearing the beautiful and noble sounds of Jurassic Park.’

The journey continues with selections from the movie-musicals ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and ‘The Phantom of the Opera’, and the critically-acclaimed Let it Go from Disney’s ‘Frozen’.

The program also features the music of iconic composer Ennio Morricone. The band will perform ‘Gabriel’s Oboe’ from ‘The Mission’ with saxophone soloist Jasmine Mills, along with a stunning arrangement by Johan de Meij that features a number of Morricone’s classic Old Western themes – ‘Moment for Morricone’.

As a special treat, IWCB is delighted to welcome members of the Collegium Musicum Choir of UNSW to share the stage with us for the haunting Hymn to the Fallen, from the WWII drama ‘Saving Private Ryan’. This powerful and emotional music by John Williams will certainly be a special part of the performance.

We hope that you can join us for an afternoon At The Movies.

Concert entry is by donation at the door.
(Suggested amount: $10/student, $15/adult)
